These past couple of weeks have been very busy. We've had some new doors and windows installed, and gates outside, and various other bits and pieces. Since I'm the unemployed half of the equation, I got to stay home with the workmen, fetching tea. (Apparently it's expected that you keep them topped up on the beverage of their choice - who knew?). So, I'll be posting pictures of all that stuff soon. No, really.
So, today, Stephen comes in and asks if I've ever seen this lizard, a goanna, and would I like a picture for the blog. Apparently if you have them in your garden( or yard for you Yanks), then you don't have snakes. So. Goanna=good. I said no, and he brought me outside to show me one sunning himself in the driveway. I'm expecting a lizard, maybe something like a gecko. I come around the corner and see...
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!
It's about 10 inches long by 3 or 4 inches wide.( Stephen says they can get up to 14 inches). Geez louise, I wasn't ready for that. I had to sit down. (If I'm being completely honest, I nearly wet myself) If the garden (yard) is full of these, guess which one of us will be hanging out the laundry this summer?
